Thank you Wyatt for choosing this particular casting.
I think that it is one of the all time greatest castings that JL has ever produced.
And that is saying something coming from me.

My favourite of the variations is the black Judge illustrated in your picture.
The black vinyl roof on this casting certainly accentuates the overall appearance.
The one illustrated on the extreme right side of your picture is my favouite.
The tires and wheels look "right" on this one.

I liked this casting so much, that I actually purchased several copies of some of the variations and have done several tire and/or wheel swaps on them.

My favoutite was the blue Judge until the black version was released.
This one:

Everything was just so "right" on this version, too.

And then along came this one:

This was one particular casting that was extremely difficult for me to obtain after it was released.
The on line dealers sold out of it in no time at all. One look and you know why.

And later this one came along that was another must have:

BYW, the park lights on the 1968 and 1969 models are different on the castings just like on the real 1:1 models. 1969 models are illustrated above.
This is a 1968 model casting:

Thank you JL for making this casting.
And an even bigger thank you to Wyatt for the wonderful reference site that he provides for all of us JL collectors.

Cheers. Cobra

SWEET! I also think the black one was or is one of my favs! Like to find the orange one or is it red?
I do need a '68 too! Looking to duplicate the white one, I want to set the one I have free!

The Judge from 1969 is in fact Carousel Red.
The most popular colour for the 1969 Judges as far as I know.
It is actually an orange shade to my eyes, but was called Carousel Red.
Maybe someone else can provide more information on this specific colour.

I do have a couple more colour variations of the '68 - '69 Pontiac GTO that are still in their blisters that I didn't bother digging out for the pictures.

I do like this casting.

Great pics, guys--I NEED my picture of the week!!!---allways a treat.
Did Pontiac really make Judges in black? I thought they only came in white & orange. Sure glad JL made a black one though --NICE!

My favourite '68 - '69 Pontiac GTO casting until the black version debuted.

The Judge from 1969 in this blue colour.
The front and middle castings in the pictures have had wheel and tire swaps.

And here are two Black With Flames versions of the '69 Judge.

IPB Image
The version on the left has had a wheel swap.

I hope that these pictures add to the topic that was started by Wyatt today.
Thanks Wyatt for choosing this specific casting.
I have had fun taking pictures and adding some comments to this thread.

Cheers. Cobra

this is my favorite casting not only in JL, but in "other" brands too, and also one of my favorite real 1:1 cars. I really need to find the BWF version. So far I have it in orange, black, and blue from retro R1. I'm gonna have to hunt down the white, and the green one as well. I have a lot of catching up to do since I'm a new collector, and I'm strongly considering to stop collecting cars from other brands so I can focus on the JL's. I'm at least going to cut down drasticly(sp?). I wish I knew about these JL cars a lot sooner, lol.

BTW, Great pics everyone!

I did a lot of reading today on the Pontiac GTOs and the 1969s in particular.
Pontiac made 6,725 Judge hardtops and 108 convertible Judges from what I have read in several sources.
The predominent colour was indeed Carousel Red but not the only colour.
The first approximate 5,000 Judges indeed were Carousel Red.
The later production Judges could be ordered in any standard GTO colour.
Other colours were definitely more rare.

And black may be the rarest colour of all of them if you believe some of the information that I read.
BYW, I saw some pictures of an all black Judge with a black vinyl roof.
That one is a beauty. The owner could park it in my driveway anytime.
And all he would have to do is transfer the title to me at no cost.
And I would promise to take very, very good care of that baby.
My wife would love it, too! smile.gif wub.gif

I dug out some old "Scale Autos" today to do some research on carousel red (pontiac)
In '69 Chevrolet called it Hugger Orange.
1970- Monaco Orange (corvette only?)
1976 General called it Medium Orange
Firecracker Orange for Buick and
Red Orange for Oldsmobile.
My reference says that hobby paint equivalent would be MCW no. 6900 (MCW Automotive Finishes)

An interesting tidbit of information.
I did not know that. I learned something new today.
Thank you!
