I think Craftmore is looking for some of these castings. Its a Muscle car that we don't often consider, a sibling of the Malibu and the Cutlass, and very similiar in the options, but had a particular attraction of its own. Nice car for CotW. thanks Wyatt

I have all 3 of these cars. Very nicely done.

The Black and Gold GSX one is one of my favorites from JL.

Wyatt, an excellent choice for the Picture Of The Week.
We have discussed this casting before a few times but I never get tired of looking at it.
In some ways it was probably the forgotten muscle car produced by General Motors.
In you were a Buick fan and enthusiast, of course you knew about it.

Some of you may not know that a couple of the JL castings come with the chin spoiler (the spoiler under the front bumper). It is a seperate piece that is attached to the base on the casting.
The first casting produced with the chin spoiler was this one:

If you look at the following image the chin spoiler is much more evident:

I'm sure that we will get some comments from Craftymore on this casting.
We know that he likes this casting.

And we also have 1970Stage1GSX here as a member, so I am sure that we will hear from him, too.

Cheers. Cobra

Great selection for this week! This is not your typical grandmother/grandfather Buick! Certainly not a car you want to sleep on.

I'm a huge fan of A-bodies and the Buick Gran Sports are by far my favorites. One of my favorite muscle cars for that matter. It's certainly one of the lesser known brutes of a by-gone era. It's a torque monster, 510 ft/lbs. coming in at 2800 RPMs...gotta love that. It would be a dream come true if I got my hands on a 1970 GSX in Saturn Yellow. I'd settle for a regular Stage 1 though. OK I'm done rambling.

Anyways I'm glad I got my hands on at least 3 versions of this casting. JL certainly did an awesome job on them and I very much forward to them making more of this type. I'm still keeping an eye out for the Lightning Rod which is a must-have.

    Now I'm hooked!

I do enjoy talking about some Buicks!!!
They sure did have the torque to glue you to your seat.
I love these modern Buick castings with the real looking wheels and chin spoilers. The only thing that could make them any better would be more realistic color options. The engine cleaner on the Stage 1's even have the correct looking decal on them! I have a buddy with a GS that has the same white top.blue body paint scheme. According to some experts there were 20 or so GS cars that left the factory with the vinyl top "painted" on. My friend recreated that look and I have to say it is awesome in full scale! Great casting, lets hope it is used more and in some new ways!

You can kinda see the chin spoiler here and Rally Wheels

Oh, by the way, anyone know the first car to be produced in America with more Torque that the GS Stage1?

^ You have my envy! smile.gif

I think you posted some pics a while back but I couldn't find the thread. If you can I'd love to see some more shots of your car, including the interior and some close ups of the little details like the hood tach, etc.

And to answer your question, I believe the Viper finally surpassed it in '03.

Wheel man your a winner! It was the Viper. Your good! I am taking the GSX to a show on Oct. 8th. I will take some detailed photos of the various parts and post them for ya to see.

If I could make one request to JL it would be to issue a convertible 1970 Stage 1, Red w/ white interior and top!!! Then any other color combos to follow! laugh.gif
