thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif Wyatt!!!! This is another older casting that has stood the test of time. I know some collectors don't like the low stance of this one but 5 zinger versions took care of that problem smile.gif . My favorite version is from the Cover Cars series Rel 14(pic below). With the green Street Freaks Rel 2 version a close second.

Pic's from JLCollector.com.

An older casting, but I still like it. thumbsup.gif

I wish JL would have made a 1969 Chevelle instead of the 1968 Chevelle in 1999 because a 1969 Chevelle didn't have vent windows. The casting would have looked much better without vent windows that are painted silver.

I'm not a huge fan of the Chevelle's but I must say the '68 ain't looking too shabby.

Definitely ALOT better than the 'New Model' from another manufacturer.

    Now I'm hooked!

Thanks Wyatt for the latest Picture Of The Week.
I thought that I didn't have any copies of this casting in my collection but after doing a quick check of JLCollector.com, I did discover that I do indeed have a couple copies of it.
I prefer the '67 and new '70 - '72 Chevelle castings but that's just me.
Everyone has their likes and dislikes.
Never-the-less, I am still glad that JL made this particular casting.

Cheers. Cobra

I agree with you about the '67 and '70-'72 Chevelle castings Cobra. I like them better too. The 1968 Chevelle casting was introduced in 1999 I believe. It was a nice casting at the time. I would like to see JL make a 1969 Chevelle casting instead of making a new 1968 Chevelle casting. I think the 1969 Chevelle is better looking than a 1968 Chevelle, even though they both are similar.

I have always liked this casting since I saw it on the shelves in 1998. It was a big reason I went back to JL's after a short break. I had been into the Matchbox Premiere sets but when I saw the JL Hollywood on Wheels set, I was really pleased with the detail and choices. At the same time, Mattel hosed up the Matchbox Premiere Collection distribution and the first set of JL Muscle Cars 3 showed up on the shelves so I quickly made the jump back to the Johnny Lightnings. I think it was the better choice. No regrets other than not buying some of the sets prior to 1998 that I now seek.

Thanks for this POW, Wyatt. thumbsup.gif I have a few versions of this casting.

As far as 1:1 Chevelles/Malibus go, my favorite year is the 1966. Unfortunately, the current JL casting is not a good representation of this model year.

I agree with you on the JL '66 Chevelle not being a good casting Mark. I wish a new casting of the '66 Chevelle was made.
