There is an old casting that has not been used in awhile. It should be put into the Gold series. I'm sure the ford fans out there would like to see that. After a quick look on JLCollector.com, I'll have to say the KB 5 pack version is my favorite. The Muscle Cars direct 3 car box set is a close second and I'm still kicking myself for not getting that set smile.gif .

Was this for me??? Why, thank you Wyatt for having my favorite casting/car as a pic of the week! wave.gif

When I found my first, I was ecstatic and very impressed as I hadn't seen another die-cast company come out with this model up to this point (1998).

My favorite color is Grabber Blue:

I am also partial to the Calypso Coral:

Another variant was using this casting and changing the tampos--ZAP--it's now a GT!

They only had one release of this car as a GT. This is probably since they took a little artistic license since the Cobra had a unique front fascia--all other Torino models had a different one. Here's a REAL '70 GT:

Notice the grille is flat vertically. The JL Cobra used does not have a flat grille--which is correct for a Cobra, but not correct for a GT. Of course, only a purist would notice, but still nice to have a non-Cobra in the lineup! thumbsup.gif

While I'm on a rant, I would love to see a real 70-71 Torino NON-COBRA NON-FASTBACK model from JL. Why? Let's just say I have my reasons... biggrin.gif

WoloMan, this is just for you:

Thanks for pointing out some of the different features on the real vehicle.

When you realize that the 3" scale casting is roughly 10 years out and still remains viable, that says a lot about the original casting. I like the blue GT casting.

Cheers. Cobra

    Now I'm hooked!

:Clap:Awesome pic as always Wyatt. I don't have any in my collection but I think i'm going to look out for one. Love the smooth line and the agressive look from that casting. Just as woloman said, grabber blue eek.gif

This is my favorite body style for the Torino. The GT's also had hide away head lights.

What a colorful bunch! I missed all these pre-2000 issues as I was not yet a full JL convert! I have a few post-2000 issues and they are nice, too. But, this pic really grabs your eye! Thanks for posting it, Wyatt!

Yes, some GTs did, although it was optional. I do know someone with a Brougham that also has the hideaway headlights.

Guntownal, thanks for the spread with original magazine ads--awesome! thumbsup.gif
