1972 Chevrolet Nova, casting #210, date 1994

No known casting variations

We shall never forget when these jewels were released and how dull the current diecast offerings were back then. Tom Lowe gave the whole industry a wake-up call.

I've also started an archive over JLCollector for the Weekly picture. It's here: "http://www.jlcollector.com/poow.html" and also linked from the bottom of the main index page if you ever need it.

There are probably a lot of other collectors who have never seen this material either.
Just wait to you see some of the other stuff from this time frame!
Back in the day, they were totally awesome.

JLs have come a very long ways in a short period of time.
It is interesting to actually look at the evolution of JLs, if you put several castings of a given year beside those that were released two years later. Then add a bunch more castings two years newer.
If you keep doing this to the present, you will notice the vast changes and improvements.
And I think that a lot the credit has to go to Tom Lowe for his vision plus the hard work of Hot Rod Al and all the others that went the extra mile to get these castings out to the public. Thanks.

Mustang_dude, sometimes it is fun to look at this early material that is not often shown.

Thanks Wyatt for the trip back in history.

Cheers. Cobra

I love the early Johnny Lightning Muscle Car series! thumbsup.gif
And I'm happy to be the proud owner of a complete set of this series. All 111 cars on the card and in the original cases.

I remember how detailed those looked back when they came out and other castings were blah. Amazing how far things have come since then!

While I just joined JLTalk, I've been a JL collector since the first series of Muscle Cars came out in 94. I can remember when several of my collector friends and I discovered them, and were blown away by both the subject matter and quality. Now its funny because the quality has improved so much that I hate to even display those early cars with some of the new ones. I continue to look forward to each new release and am glad to see that after the recent rumors, JL appears to have a good future.

Sweet pic. This was my favorite of the first MCUSA's.
