This casting was also available in the short-lived model kit series from 2001.
Pretty sure it was available without a rear spoiler also.
Coupe and convertible too. Or was the convert a different part number? I could never remember if the difference in the casting numbers was coupe/convertible or '67/68.

Hey, Jeff,
The convertible is a different casting number (535 for both '67 and '68). I did mention the spoiler being optional. As far as the front spoiler, I have not seen an instance where the front spoiler was left off.

Wyatt, thanks for the great topic.
You had me going through my display case looking at all the paint variations
and other attributes. Boy, it sure was fun. And, I got to play with them for a few minutes, too.
Different front grill variations that I found on some of my castings:
Single silver centre verticle bar.
Same grill, no silver centre bar.
Round park lights. Amber.
Round park lights. White.
SS grill with head lights and round park lights and SS white lettering.
SS/RS grill with hide-away head lights. SS white lettering.
Plain black grill with hide-away headlights.

You should see how much fun it is taking pictures of them for the weekly post! I have over 200 pictures I have been working on, taking them, cropping them, etc.

Now, others will know why we collect these little guys.
BYW, have you tried GE Reveal bulbs for your lightning?
They bring out the true colours without a hint of yellow cast.

I decided to bring this thread back for two reasons.
First, I never get tired of looking at these particular JL castings.
And that maybe due to the fact that I have a lot of '67/'68 Camaro castings.
I was reviewing this thread for reference purposes.
Second, I happened to notice that I had mentioned Reveal light bulbs.
We have been using them for a long time in our kitchen and dining room.
I would never go back to regular light bulbs in these two areas.
It is amazing the difference they make in showing true colour hues with no yellow tones.
When I first started taking indoor pictures of my JL castings, I was using a regular 60W bulb as part of my lighting source. At some point I changed over to a Reveal bulb and was totally amazed at the difference the bulb made in the colours of the castings when I took pictures.
Yesterday, FreqE1 had mentioned that he had started using Reveal light bulbs for a lighting source when he took his most recent pictures. He had mentioned the huge difference in colour hue in his pictures.
The yellow tones of the regular incandescent light bulb were completely absent.
So to all the other collectors who may take pictures of their diecast, I do strongly recommend trying out the Reveal light bulbs.

And a big thank you to Wyatt for the pics, they are from his site of coarse.
The Zinger Camaro 536-Z Large size SS in grille, hidden headlights, and tampoes on rectangular driving lights (or are they the turn signal lites?) between the bumper and the scoop. 350 tampoed on each side, with the racing flags, even though the old engine is much bigger then that. The back is unique also SS above the disc, which I think I remember is the gas fill cap. All 4 lites are the same colour, and the gas fill cap is the colour of the car. under the bumper is 2 tampoed rectangles (back up lites?) SS is also in the front wrap around the grille black stripe. Has both front and rear scoops. Has Camaro tampoes on both front fenders and on the passenger side of the trunk lid, and on the drivers side of the wrap around black stripe
Ah the lovely Yenko Camaro, Large SS in Grill, white headlites, rounded corner rectangular signal lites on inside of each headlite, no tampo lites under the bumper, 427 tampoed on the white wrap around the grille stripe, The back SS is on the black and silver disc, and the 2 inner lites are different then the outer ones, there are also no tampo lites below the bumper, 427 and YENKO are on each side of the disc. Even has the key lock tampoed on! Has both front and rear scoops. Has Camaro tampoed on both front fenders under YENKO. Also has bothfront and rear indicator lites on the front and rear fenders. No sign of Camaro tampoes on the trunk and front, but has a pair of hood locking pins.
The more I look at Spoilers the more I like them, Large Blacked out SS in front Grille, white headlites, and round signal lights on inside of headlights. no tampoes below the bumper.On the back the SS is tampoed above the disc, which is silver, the 4 lites are the same colour, no tampoes below the bumper on this one either. Has both front and rear scoops. Just a simple Camaro tampoed on both front fenders, and on the drivers side just above the grille.
Another Favorite, BWF, the front grille same as the Zinger, large silver SS, hidden headlites, and direction lites under the bumper. Camaro tampoed on each front fenders and the racing flags with 350. The rear end is also much like the Zinger except the disc is silver, 4 same colour lites and tampoed lites below the bumper. Johnny even put plates on this baby "CODE 904C" (anybody no any reason behind the plate?)Camaro printed on the trunk deck. Front and rear scoops. Camaro is also tampoed on the passenger side trunk deck and on the drivers side above the grill. This one also has both years on the bottom, 1967 printed and 1968 cast on the casting.

The back end, has the 2 different coloured lites, and the tampoed key lock, the disc is the boby colour, once again nothing below the bumper. Side indicator lites front and back, Camaro on the drivers side above the grill, and on the side of each fender, nothing on the trunk. Wrap around the grille white stripe
6 Camaro's, five different rims, only the BWF and the Spoiler share the same rims, the BWF, Spoiler, and Zinger have plastic wheels, the other three rubber wheels. The steelies on the Blue Camaro are my favorite, but I also like the rims on the BWF and Spoiler. The blue one and the Yenko have the same physical engine in them, so the blue one with the steelies in a real sleeper, 427 and the little old lady from Pasadena in it. The Spoiler also has the same physical engine despite having 350 on the side. Of coarse the Spoiler and Zinger have chrome babies and much too big for the hood. The red one I've never been able to get the hood open so I can't tell you whats under it. The zingers base is black all the others are unpainted bare metal.
Anyway, despite the rambling, Whats best is there are always differences between the issues, thats what I love about JL's. Each issue is unique, and a little masterpiece

I only have 1 edition of casting of 535 (you can stop cheering now ) The Wyatt Camaro, Johnny did a real number when they issued this one, I really love it. It has the front end just like the BWF, hidden headlites, large silver SS, and direction lites below the bumper. The wrap around the grille black stripe broken only for the SS on the fender, and Camaro on the drivers side. Camaro also tampoed on the sides of the fenders over the racing flags. The back end, is different than any of the coupes, the taillites are double wide, so there is only 2 of them. SS on a black disc in the centre. and of coarse Johnny put plates on this one "WYATT". No tampo on the trunk deck. The front scoop is also a difference there is none here. Just the trunk deck wind deflector. The paint on my copy is not the best, but I am willing to over look that. the colour is awesome! And redwalls to boot. My prayers are answered. Thanks JL you did it up right!

Last Friday when I went to pick up Chris after school, A new full scale JL, 1968 Orange Camaro Convertible driven by a ..... blonde, was there. She must of been picking up her child, but it was the first time I've ever seen the ride. Well my better half caught me looking, and siad "What would you do with that?" my answer "I'd kick the blonde out at the first stop sign, so I could drive"

That took a lot of work but was well worth reading.
The "scoops" that you refer to are actually known as spoilers. That is an easy mistake to make.
All '67 Camaros and Firebirds have side vent windows and NO side front or back clearance lights.
All '68 Camaros and Firebirds do NOT have side vent windows but do have side front and back clearance lights.
JL has made the odd mistake on the '67 and '68 Camaro castings.
The one below is a hybrid casting.
A combination of a '67 and '68 Camaro.
It should not have had side vent windows.

Thanks AC, lookin forward to it, and thanks for tye info on vent window and side lights. Was it Chryco that came out with the side lights first, in 67, small round ones, about the size of a loonie, (your Canadian are you not?) (size of a dollar coin for all you US JL lovers)
